Paw It Forward by helping a lost fur friend!
We see it all the time on Facebook, local newspapers, flyers around your neighborhood…A lost fur friend! The good news is, the pet has been found, but what do you do next? You can call animal control if the animal is found Monday – Friday 9am-4pm. What do you do after 4 or on the weekends??
Â
Introducing our Pet Emergency Transfer to Safety (P.E.T.S) Program. We are putting together a list of volunteers (we call Guardians), in the Holland and surrounding areas, who are willing to pick up a lost pet and provide safe housing and care for a day or two until the owner can be contacted/found, or animal control is open and can pick the pet up for transfer to the local Humane Society/Shelter.
Â
Once you sign up, you will be entered in our database and contacted if an animal in your area needs help that meets your criteria provided in the questionnaire (for example, you may be able to only assist with small dogs or cats). Paw It Forward will provide everything you need…a crate, bowls, food, leashes, etc. If you accept to house the animal, you will be required to pick the animal up, if needed, and safely house and care for the animal until the owners can be found or animal control can be called, which is usually just a matter of a day or two.
