Beyond the Treat Bag - Dogs Bay

Beyond the Treat Bag

Real-life manners without needing a treat pouch surgically attached to your hip.

Does your dog listen beautifully when snacks are visible… but suddenly become “hard of hearing” when real life happens?

This class is for you.

Beyond the Treat Bag Training Class

Beyond the Treat Bag is a fun, practical 4-week class for dogs who already know sit, but need help using that skill in everyday situations without being bribed first.

We are not anti-treat. Treats are wonderful teaching tools. But your dog should not need proof of payment before deciding whether manners are worth their time. Tiny furry negotiators, we see you.

A Special Class Taught by Certified Trainer and Dogs Bay owner, Deb Lewis

Deb Lewis is coming out of training retirement for this 4-week class.

As one of the area’s leading trainers for many years, Deb saw firsthand that treats are wonderful teaching tools, but they should not become lifelong bribes.

Beyond the Treat Bag helps dogs and families move from “I’ll do it if you have food” to real-life manners that actually stick.

Class Dates

Important: This Is Not a Beginner Sit Class

Dogs must already know sit, with or without a treat.

Vaccine Requirements

To attend class, dogs must be current on rabies, distemper, bordetella, and have a negative fecal within the past 6 months.

Who This Class Is Best For

This class is a great fit for dogs who know sit but only perform when food is visible, get excited at doors, gates, or greetings, struggle with impulse control when something fun is happening, need better real-life manners, pull, wiggle, jump, or rush ahead, or have trained their humans to show the cookie first.

No judgment. Dogs are very good at staff training.

Class Goal

By the end of the 4 weeks, you will have a clear, simple plan for helping your dog respond in real life, not just when snacks are making a guest appearance.

Because good training is not about carrying cookies forever.

It is about building teamwork, manners, and one very good dog.
